The American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF), commonly referred to as the Farm Bureau, is a nonprofit organization and describes itself as the largest general farm organization in the United States.
In 2010, it suddenly found itself richer by $8.5 million thanks to the sale of one of its ‘assets’ Y to the company X. X was, at the time, still relatively unknown, and in a completely different field.
X’s founder announced the acquisition with a quip – “The farm bureau has agreed to give us Y and we in return have agreed to not sell farm subsidies.”
Hint: X recently changed its name into a 4 letter word.
