The Nifty has seen a lousy May though it recovered towards the end, with a -2.8% return for the month. May is officially the fourth month of the year that’s negative.
For the year to date, we have seen a return of -21%, which is now the worst year-till-May ever. From the time the Nifty has started, this is the worst year-to-date return at this time.

We all know that one year returns are bad. Even three years are lousy. But at this point, even you had been diligently investing every month for five years, your annualised returns would have been negative.

Not a fun time to look back, but this is perhaps a better time to start than any other. It appears, going by a bunched set of investments by funds abroad in Indian companies (Airtel, Hindustan Unilever-GSK, Jio, etc) that at least some people think so, and with mutual fund SIPs continuing to be positive, perhaps this isn’t lost on the domestic public too.
